Computer and Internet Application in Research as our course this semester is a bit challenge to me. It’s not that I don’t have any knowledge about computers and internet, besides I knew something about it. What challenges me is that it talks about in research and I didn’t have the chance to use the Adobe In-design which I think a little bit hard but manageable.
In our first meet with our instructor, he explained to us what our course is all about, what we are going to do, and all the requirements for the course. I just learned the weakness of computers. I first thought that computers can solve complex calculations, but I was wrong. I was amazed by our instructor when he told us about his experienced that computers will be downed due to complex calculations because it cannot bear such complex problems. Unbelievable but it’s true. So nothing would ever replace to a human skill. Although with that weakness, it can solve/calculate problems easily just a snap of a finger. Unlike with the humans, it will take time. It is also easy to use. It makes things easier specially doing paper works.
But computers also depend on the program that has been installed to it. It doesn’t have their own minds to run any applications they want to. If there is a problem, it doesn’t have the intuition to think and create a solution to the problem. Unlike with the humans, they are very intuitive to any problems and can easily cope up with the different situations. Computers can also save private files as long as you ensure that you save it well because, in our generation now where genius are increasing, they can hack your own privacy specially your account in any networks. Just be sure with your username and password. As long as, you owned the computer and save it to your private file, with password in it, no one can see it. Never allow to give your password to anybody unless it is needed. And also just be careful lending your personal computer/laptop to anybody. They can access your computer and scan your files easily if it is open.
After our instructor discussed to us the advantages and disadvantages of computers, quizzes followed. We just had fun answering the quiz because it was not just a simple paper and pencil but with the use of computer. By clicking number one, the question for number one appears and if you click the question mark in the right side, the answer will appear. Though it was just true and false, it made you also think which should be the answer.
Through the computers and internet, you can explore the whole world. It gives us knowledge and communications. Even in a very far people, you can reach them with just a simple click. Computer helps me to learn lots of things. Nowadays, all people in this world will be given a chance to have own computers and become part of our life. It became an important things to us especially I am teaching now, it gives me an idea how to improve my teaching and a chance to communicate with other educators.
